IRISH NATIONAL AND INVITATIONAL
MATHEMATICS CONTESTS 1994

These two contests are held to choose the Irish team for the International Mathematics
Olympiad (IMO). Gonzaga produced some remarkable performances in these
competitions this year. The most notable of these was a unprecedented score of 141 in
the INMC by Eoin Lawless. Unfortunately we did not get a pupil on the IMO team,
mainly because of an unusual selection system. Gonzaga did, however get the best three
top scores in the INMC. Here are the results achieved by Gonzaga students in the two
competitions:
